We are seeking a Creative Director to grow our design practice to the next level. You’ll have the opportunity to shape how Mediacurrent approaches and delivers globally acclaimed interactive design. You will work with a team of other top open source web talent who are committed to elevating how buyers perceive Mediacurrent’s design practice. This job is based in the Atlanta metro area and involves leading remote design team members while collaborating on-site with Mediacurrent leadership to win more design business. You will be on the front lines of connecting and conversing with key executives in top organizations to help shape, enhance and improve their design experience.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the creative and user experience vision for the Design team to solidify Mediacurrent as an interactive design leader by writing creative briefs, delivering critiques, and mentoring designers.
  • Conceive and create experience-oriented design solutions that fulfill strategic business objectives.
  • Guide customers in the design process, helping articulate their vision by following best-practice design techniques that are centered around intuitive use and business requirements.
  • Keep informed on emerging interactive design, front-end technology, and usability trends.
  • Create unique, compelling user interface designs that position customer’s web presence for success.
  • Provide thought leadership in the form of writing and speaking on usability and design subject matter related to Drupal and open-source software.
  • Articulate high-level creative solutions for Drupal projects to customer stakeholders during sales pitches.
  • Lead community project and development efforts for community contributions that center around usability and design.
  • Responsible for mentoring and leading the creative staff through critique of their work to maintain consistent creative quality and award-winning work.
  • Participate in new business development efforts by providing presentations, design feedback and task estimates to prospects.
  • Lead the growth of the Design department by establishing goals and Design department service offerings that will generate revenue.
  • Assist the Marketing Director in crafting and maintaining the integrity of brand messaging for Mediacurrent, including digital and print strategies.
  • Assist other department heads in forecasting creative team assignments.
  • Assist in managing creative team assignments through Mediacurrent’s ticketing system.
  • Collaborate with COO, Director of Development, Director of Strategy and Project Managers on project planning.

What We Are Looking For / Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a creative leadership and management role at another digital agency.
  • You are someone who has a vision that can be clearly articulated around how to grow a Design department or can demonstrate how you have done this in the past.
  • Excellent presentation skills - you will have an existing track record of effectively pitching and winning new design work.
  • You will have played an important role in managing enterprise level client relations.
  • You will have an up-to-date portfolio that allows us to see a cross-section of your work and capabilities.
  • Extremely well-rounded skill set in all facets of design fundamentals.
  • We will be able to easily validate your thought leadership by seeing examples of where you have written or spoken about various design topics before (i.e. conferences, blog posts, social media, etc.)
  • An existing track record of managing direct reports in some capacity (i.e. administering annual reviews)
  • A strong desire to grow a team and work in a collaborative environment
  • 4-year degree, preferably in a design related major
  • Will be goal-oriented, ability to hold oneself accountable to daily/weekly/month objectives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Some knowledge of Drupal (or other CMSs) and a technical acumen.
