The Symfony2 Developer will serve as Mediacurrent’s resident Symfony expert.  This role is exposed to a variety of learning opportunities and challenging assignments. This is an amazing opportunity to learn Drupal 8 and advance within the Drupal community.  You will collaborate with some of the top minds in the open source software industry. Additionally, the Symfony2 Developer will help push a number of internal projects forward.

Position Responsibilities:  

  • Design and maintain API’s using the Symfony2 framework
  • Assist with architecture, design, and planning of new Drupal 8 websites, including developing new custom modules and themes
  • Keep informed on Symfony2 development best practices and standards
  • Provide thought leadership around Symfony2 and Drupal 8 (i.e. blog post series, presentations, etc.)
  • Assist with maintaining existing sites, debugging and resolving issues, proposing and implementing new functionality
  • Provide timely feedback to Project Managers and customers on the status of assigned tasks
  • Attend weekly status meetings to dialogue with project stakeholders about status of assigned deliverables
  • Analyze written specifications and configure Symfony features that function within the specified scope
  • Assist with scoping and pricing custom development and support projects
  • Offer technical solutions when unforeseen challenges occur
  • Document new functionality and train users as needed

Required knowledge, skills and experience:

  • 2+ years Symfony experience
  • 2+ years experience designing and building large-scale custom web applications
  • Extensive work with PHP
  • Desire to learn Drupal 8 development
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously (multi-task) is a must
  • Concise understanding of CSS, HTML, Javascript/jQuery
  • Understanding of version control technologies including Git
  • Excellent time management, problem solving, teamwork, and communication skills

Valued knowledge, skills and experience:

  • Drupal experience is a plus
  • Understanding of efficient deployment workflows
  • Experience working in a professional services, agency, or consulting related business
  • Writing and editorial experience
